New to hypnosis?

First time trancers can feel a bit awkward undergoing hypnosis for the first time. Here are some general tips to give your first try a better chance at going deep.

Already a seasoned trancer? You might find that small changes to your hypno-habits can make your experience better. Allow the following to be food for thought.


Pick a place where you can be comfortable and your limbs can rest in neutral, natural positions. A recliner or a bed with a firm pillow can be ideal. Allow legs, arms, and neck to lie in relaxed positions. Any pressure on sensitive nerves can be distracting and prevent you from going into trance or achieving the state of depth you are hoping for.

Turn off or dim the lights. Hypnosis, from a physical perspective, mirrors the brain’s state that occurs just before REM sleep. Bright lights and especially fluorescent lighting are known to prevent or lessen REM sleep so don’t let it prevent you from a deep trance.

When listening to hypnosis MP3s, use headphones. Allow for complete immersion so you can give in to the experience. If you can afford it, invest in a pair of noise-canceling headphones to drown out those little sounds around you.


Don’t try to fit your trancing experiences into limited windows of time. For example, if you know you have to go to work in 45 minutes, you may not want to listen to a 45 minute recording in that time. you will find your mind wandering to what you have to do rather than what you want to do.

Some first time trancers find better success listening right before bedtime. I don’t necessarily recommend this as many people just fall asleep, but you do hear and absorb during sleep so it can be useful.

State of Mind:

Don’t feel as if you have to force yourself into hypnosis. Don’t let that be your actual goal if you have problems entering hypnosis. The only thing you need to do is listen, follow directions, and let whatever will happen…happen.

Try to avoid listening to sessions that conflict with your current state of mind. The mind more readily accepts suggestions that are congruent with your desires. For example, if you are not feeling particularly submissive, you are going to reject control suggestions.

Last, but not least….HAVE FUN! Erotic hypnosis is fun. Arousal is fun. Sex is fun. Even strict control is fun. If you are not enjoying yourself or feeling stress about hypnosis, then take a break and come back to it later
